Greece
Greece offers sailing for all; calm winds in protected areas versus open sea sailing with strong northern winds. The Greek Archipelago consists of thousands of islands, most of them uninhabited. The vast amount of islands creates opportunities for new experiences every single day.
If you are planning a shorter charter (one week) we recommend focusing on a certain area as distances are long. If you wish to explore more of Greece we recommend two weeks of sailing - which enables you to visit several areas but also leaves time for relaxation and lingering in favourite spots.
Sailing in Greece is at its best from April to October; the high season stretches from June to the end of September. Before and after the high season the weather is pleasant and there are fewer tourists. In July and August temperatures are high both in the air and sea and there is more activity on the islands.
Greece’s popularity has a lot to do with the friendly atmosphere and hospitality of the Greek’s. Having your "home" on a yacht in the harbour also means securing the first-row seats to everyday Greek life.
Take the opportunity to enjoy Greek specialities as souvlaki, mousakka and kleftiko. Another favourite is to order all the appetizers and sharing your meal with dishes as tzatziki, melitzanasalata, taramasalata and saganaki.
When chartering a bare boat without staff, Navigare Yachting offers a service phone for emergencies and technical assistance. Our base managers are happy to assist, whether it may concern the yacht or deciding on a restaurant for the evening. This is a service that is unique to Navigare Yachting.
